A different kind of boarding

Built for dog parents who want to feel completely comfortable leaving.

CountrySide K9 Retreat was created to give dogs the kind of boarding experience Courtney and Derek wanted for their own: small, thoughtful, safe, and personal.

Here, dogs are known by name. Their routines matter. They get individual attention, photo updates, country air, and the space to simply be dogs.

Stayed with us?

We’d love to hear about your dog’s stay.

Good to know

A few things before your stay.

Have a special routine, medication, or question? Reach out—personal care starts with a conversation.

How do I reserve my dog’s stay?

Text your requested dates to (469) 502-0812 along with proof of your dog’s current vaccinations. Screenshots or clear photos of vaccine records are perfectly fine. Once I have both the dates and vaccine records, I’ll add your dog’s stay to the calendar and send confirmation.

When will we arrange drop-off and pickup times?

You’ll receive confirmation when your reservation is added to the calendar. You’re always welcome to reach out at any time to make sure your stay is still scheduled. On Mondays, I normally contact everyone arriving or leaving that week to confirm the reservation and arrange drop-off and pickup times.

Is a deposit required?

No. A deposit is not required to reserve your dog’s stay.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is no cancellation fee. I understand that plans can change, but I appreciate as much notice as possible so I can update the calendar and offer the space to another dog.

What are your rates?

Daycare and boarding are $40 per day, per dog. Boarders picked up before noon are not charged for the pickup day. Pickups after noon are charged the regular daily rate.

What are your drop-off and pickup hours?

Drop-off and pickup are available from 8:00 AM–6:00 PM. CountrySide K9 Retreat is closed daily between noon and 2:00 PM. Please text your ETA or an update approximately 15–20 minutes before arriving so I have time to safely secure the dogs and open or close gates as needed. Tours are available by appointment.

What vaccinations are required?

Dogs must be current on rabies, Bordetella/kennel cough, and DAPP, DHPP or another veterinarian-approved combination vaccine covering distemper and parvovirus. Leptospirosis is optional. Proof of current vaccinations must be provided before a reservation can be placed on the calendar.

Do you accept puppies?

For safety, I do not accept dogs under one year old. Dogs must have completed their puppy vaccine series and received their one-year vaccinations. Records must show at least three parvovirus-containing vaccines before a dog can attend daycare or boarding.

What are the kennels like?

Each dog has a private indoor kennel measuring approximately 5 feet by 6 feet. The indoor area is climate-controlled, and each kennel has a doggie door leading to its own covered outdoor rock run with lighting. Doggie doors are generally open during the day but may be closed during extreme heat, cold, storms or other unsafe weather conditions.

How much playtime will my dog receive?

Dogs are let into the play yard approximately three to four times each day for at least 30 minutes at a time. Play sessions may be longer when the weather allows. Activities and play arrangements are based on each dog’s personality, comfort level, energy and safety needs. Dogs that are not suited for group play still receive individual yard time, attention and enrichment.

Do you accept intact dogs?

Yes, I accept intact males and females. However, intact dogs are not allowed to participate in group play. Individual playtime and attention will still be provided. Females actively in heat cannot attend daycare or boarding.

What should I bring for my dog?

A secure collar and leash are required. You may also bring beds, blankets, favorite toys, treats, chews or other comfort items. Beds, blankets, toys and other basic supplies are available here, so you’re welcome to bring as little or as much from home as you would like.

Do I need to provide food?

Yes. Please provide enough food for your dog’s entire stay along with clear, written feeding instructions. Individually portioned and labeled meals are appreciated but not required. Please tell me about any food allergies, sensitivities, supplements, toppers or special feeding routines.

Can you give my dog medication?

Yes. Medications are administered at no additional charge. Please provide written instructions with the medication name, correct dose, when and how it should be given, and why your dog takes it. Please also tell me about any medical conditions, allergies or recent health concerns before the stay.

What happens if my dog has a medical emergency?

I will contact you or your designated emergency contact as quickly as possible. When veterinary care is needed, I can transport your dog to Risinger Veterinary Hospital in Terrell. I also keep the nearest 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital’s information available for emergencies occurring after regular veterinary hours. Your dog’s immediate safety and medical needs will always come first.

Will I receive updates during my dog’s stay?

Yes. Photo and message updates are included at no additional charge so you can see how your dog is settling in and enjoying the stay. The frequency may vary depending on the length of the reservation and how busy the dogs keep me, but you are always welcome to check in.

What if my dog needs special accommodations?

Please tell me about your dog’s routine, behavior, fears, medical needs or special accommodations before reserving. CountrySide K9 Retreat is small and personal, which allows me to consider each dog’s individual needs and determine whether I can provide a safe, comfortable stay.
